May 8th, 2017 Squawk Squad officially launched our Kickstarter campaign. We were overjoyed to see the interest and support from so many. Within only two weeks we managed to hit our targeted goal to support Ark in the Park. By the end of our campaign's 30 days, we had raised $70K. This was 350% of our initial funding target.

Our intention had always been to help sanctuaries all over New Zealand, we just hadn't intended on that happening so soon! However, we aren't one to look a gift horse in the mouth so we jumped at the chance to get other sanctuaries involved. We planned three more sanctuary projects across New Zealand and this time left it up to our backers to decide. At the end of the Kickstarter, they all voted as to which project they would like to see receive full funding. Te Rere Penguin Reserve received the most votes and is now a fully funded project. Due to the huge amount of support received over our campaign we have now opened funding for the runner-up, Thames Coast Kiwi Care!
We want to shout out to all the incredible conservationists out there who have been shouldering this massive task of protecting our native birds. Here at Squawk Squad, we hope to help share that load by breaking down the costs of conservation and allowing everyone the opportunity to get involved and make a difference.
